Protect yourself before starting university
Graham Young Pharmacy is pleased to offer the NHS Meningitis B (MenB) Vaccination Service from 20 July 2026.
If you’re eligible, you can receive your MenB vaccination free of charge on the NHS at our pharmacy, helping to protect you against meningococcal disease before starting university or moving into student accommodation.

Who is eligible?
You may be eligible for a free NHS MenB vaccination if you are under 25 years old and are:
- A Year 13 school leaver starting university for the first time in autumn 2026.
- Starting university as an undergraduate for the first time in autumn 2026.
- Moving into residential further education accommodation for the first time in autumn 2026.
- An international student under 25 entering your first year of university in the UK.
Why get vaccinated?
First-year university students are significantly more likely to develop meningococcal disease due to close living and social environments.
Meningitis B is the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in the UK. Although rare, it can become life-threatening very quickly. Vaccination is the best way to help protect yourself against this serious infection.
What to expect
- The vaccine is free for eligible patients.
- Protection requires two doses, given at least 28 days apart.
- During your appointment, one of our trained healthcare professionals will administer the vaccine and provide advice on recognising the signs and symptoms of meningitis.
Know the symptoms
Meningitis symptoms can develop rapidly and may include:
- Fever
- Cold hands and feet
- Headache
- Vomiting
- Muscle pain
- Drowsiness
- Stiff neck
- Sensitivity to light
- Confusion
- Difficulty waking
- A rash that may develop into red or purple blotches
If you suspect meningitis, seek urgent medical attention immediately.
